Toto (
She is one of the main antagonists in the Sword Bearer Assassination Arc alongside the rest of the Hishaku as a whole.
Appearance[]
Toto is a short young woman, standing significantly below her comrade Kuguri. She has light-coloured hair and dark-coloured eyes, and wears a long black dress tied by a white belt, with a white bow situated on the section of belt near her back. Toto bears the insignia of the Hishaku on the back of her right hand.

Kuguri[]
Kuguri and Toto were tasked to kidnap Samura's daughter. The two converse naturally, being on good terms and working efficiently as a pair during their mission to capture Iori. When Toto was stuck under a car after the car exploded, Kuguri displayed a degree of concern for her wellbeing.
Hiruhiko[]
Toto appears to be on good terms with Hiruhiko, having defended him when Kuguri criticised him. Toto chose to teleport Hiruhiko to the Kyoto Bloodshed Hotel to help her to search for Iori. Hiruhiko appears to respect Toto, thanking her cordially and letting her have tea while he aimed to handle the hotel guards.
Plot[]
Sword Bearer Assassination Arc[]
On the 13th of November, Kuguri and Toto were present in Kyoto. As the two were in a sushi shop, Toto was nervous that Kuguri was carrying an (as of yet unusable) Enchanted Blade with him (though it was wrapped up and covered). Kuguri replied it was to deepen his understanding with the blade, having been attempting to follow Sojo's advice. She then stated Yura had told the Hishaku that 'it's almost time', before noting their mission to locate Samura's daughter. Kuguri was annoyed about the lack of detail regarding her identity and location, remarking the riskiness of the mission was typical for Yura, and also commented the situation was more of a hassle than it should have been thanks to Hiruhiko, who he disparaged.[1]
Later that day, the two arrived at Iori Samura's school, Kuguri jumping through the window into a classroom as Toto began testing the female students' blood for a match with Samura's, telling Kuguri to round up the female students and not kill any of them. She permitted Kuguri to kill male students, so Kuguri attempted to kill Ikura, who had stood up to confront them. They were surprised when Iori jumped in between them to save Ikura, Kuguri holding back his katana. Kuguri noted her bravery before asking Toto to check Iori so he could kill her if she wasn't a match. Ro entered the room and while Kuguri was distracted, Chihiro engaged him in battle.[2]
Toto gestured Kuguri that their target was escaping, and they moved to a car. As their driver sped towards Sumi's motorbike, Toto attempted to engage him in conversation regarding the Masumi's actions, though Kuguri responded monosyllabically and barely paid attention to her, causing her to wonder if he was in a bad mood. Ro then struck the car with shurikens, a bomb attached to them sending the car flying. Nonchalantly, Kuguri told Toto he viewed bladed confrontation as conversation, and voiced that both parties needed to make things interesting, which Chihiro (in his view) had not done.[3]
As Kuguri chased after Sumi's motorbike, Toto was left under the car. Later, after the Masumi, Chihiro and Iori had escaped Kuguri, Kuguri returned and told Toto what had happened. Toto was exasperated and replied that the detection sorcery they were using to track Iori was not picking up anything; ergo, they had lost her.[4]
Kuguri and Toto split up to search the various locations in Kyoto impervious to the detection sorcery. After some time at night, Toto (followed in secret by Ikura) entered the Kyoto Bloodshed Hotel and teleported Hiruhiko in, the latter using a hairpin to kill a guard and tie his hair before taking the guard's sword, wanting to use the hotel guards as a way to improve his swordsmanship.[5] Toto asked if Hiruhiko needed any help and Hiruhiko refused, before engaging Yojiro Sengoku in combat.
Toto was initially concerned, especially given Sengoku's skill compared to Hiruhiko's inexperience with sword fighting and sword styles, and at one point raised her hand in preparation to bring assistance, but was surprised when Hiruhiko managed to sever Sengoku's arm.[6] After Hiruhiko dispatched Sengoku and the staff, the two reconvened and figured out Iori was in the building, Toto instructing Hiruhiko to head upstairs and capture Iori alive while she called in reinforcements.[7]
Abilities[]
Overall Abilities: As a member of the Hishaku, a group of elite sorcerers, it can be assumed Toto is a powerful combatant.
As a sorcerer, Toto has accomplished the first stage of spirit energy usage, being able to use her spirit energy to strengthen her body to superhuman levels.
Toto has the unique ability of being able to identify individuals based on the taste of their blood; having sampled Seiichi Samura's blood, Toto planned on tasting the blood of various students in order to identify which one was related to Samura; i.e. was his daughter.
Enhanced Durability: Toto was resilient enough to endure a car crash seemingly unhurt and hold dialogue with Kuguri afterwards.[8]
Sorcery[]
Fire-Based Teleportation: Toto uses this type of movement sorcery that is separate from her own sorcery. Unlike her colleagues, Toto has thus far solely used this ability to teleport allies to her location, such as when teleporting Hiruhiko to the Kyoto Bloodshed Hotel.[9] Like her colleagues, Toto uses her sorcery through first forming a hand sign with her right hand, flames appearing where the teleported individual will appear.
Etymology[]
斗 : Literally means a unit of measurement relating to liquids. Likely chosen due to phonetic sound, with the kanji having no meaningful significance.
