The Raid on Kokugoku Hot Spring is a battle fought between the Hishaku and Kamunabi sorcerers.

After the 208th Rakuzaichi concludes and the Hishaku confirm the Kamunabi possess Shinuchi, they proceed with their next move; an attack on Yoji Uruha's Sanso, Kokugoku Hot Spring. The attack force consists of hired sorcerers, some with semi-stabilised Datenseki, and is led by one of the Hishaku's own: Hiruhiko.

Prologue[]

After confirming the Kamunabi had taken possession of Shinuchi, the Hishaku were glad to see their plans were being fulfilled. Yura noted it was time for them to begin their next move.

On the 9th of November, the day after the Rakuzaichi, this move was a directed assault on the Sanso where the former Enchanted Blade wielders were kept under protection. Yura placed the operation, the Hishaku's manpower and their semi-stabilised Datenseki weaponry under Hiruhiko's command, viewing it as an opportunity to let him experience more of the world and develop his psychological maturity.

At the Kokugoku Hot Spring Uruha with the Steam Squad discusses the news regarding a seventh Enchanted Blade and a supposed son of Kunishige. Fushimi notes his lineage is unconfirmed, and Uruha wholeheartedly believes it must be an impersonator, aggravated at the thought. Fushimi asks why he is confident in his belief, and Uruha relays his belief that Kunishige would never be able to care for a child.

During the attack, the guards urged Uruha to leave and preserve his life, Uruha quickly fleeing the hot spring. Fushimi was informed four of the Kokugoku sorcerers were heavily injured then he used a smoke signal to inform his colleagues Uruha successfully escaped the battlefield. Rejoiced on the news, they started executing the plan to neutralise the attackers. They tied one of the Datenseki-wielding sorcerers and Fushimi activated Smoke Axe to defeat the enemy. Not long after, all Datenseki-wielding sorcerers were defeated and exploded.

Aftermath[]

The Kokugoku Steam Squad planned on travelling to Senkutsuji to surprise Uruha.

Hiruhiko "helped" Kokugoku Squad to surprise Uruha.

On the train, which had pulled into a station, Uruha, Hakuri and Chihiro saw the bodies of several of the Kokugoku Steam Squad arrayed on a bench, and two members of the Hishaku present on the platform with no one else around. One of the two, Hiruhiko, expressed his excitement to finally take action after Yura had only permitted them to 'prepare' for three years, before boarding the train with several hired sorcerers.
