The Puppet Sorcerer was a sorcerer allied with the Trauma Sorcerer, who ambushed Chihiro and Char upon learning of the bounty Genichi Sojo had placed on them. His sorcery involved the creation of puppets that looked nearly identical to himself out of a substance similar to dirt or mud, which he used to gain a numerical advantage in battle.

He was a minor antagonist in the Vs. Sojo Arc.

Appearance[]

The Puppet Sorcerer was a man of above-average height, roughly equal to his ally the Trauma Sorcerer. He had neatly combed hair that slicked outwards at the back, and his most distinctive feature was the tattooes covering his cheeks and eyebrows. He wore a generic black two-piece suit over a white shirt and black tie, and wore black shoes.

Personality[]

The Puppet Sorcerer generally operated with a cool, condescending demeanour. He displayed confidence in his abilities, taking the time to tell Chihiro of Sojo's bounty before seriously pursuing him. Upon seeing that Chihiro, despite holding an Enchanted Blade, did not display abilities as powerful as the ones he had seen in the Seitei War, the Puppet Sorcerer regarded Chihiro as immature as he calmly proceeded to attack him. He has also displayed a sadistic side, wanting to test the limits of Char's regeneration after the Trauma Sorcerer demonstrated it. The only time the Puppet Sorcerer lost his composure was after Chihiro activated Nishiki and sliced through all of his clones as well as the Trauma Sorcerer.

Relationships[]

Trauma Sorcerer: The Puppet Sorcerer and the Trauma Sorcerer held enough trust in each other to ally in order to pursue Chihiro's bounty. Their casual discussions indicated a level of familiarity between the two, implying they have worked together on previous occasions.

Plot[]

Background[]

The Puppet Sorcerer was present during the Seitei War and witnessed the power of the Enchanted Blades.[1] Sometime before the present, he heard a (false) rumour that people who eat the flesh of members of the Kyonagi Clan could obtain immortality.[2]

Vs. Sojo Arc[]

When Genichi Sojo posted a bounty on Chihiro's blade and Char, the Puppet Sorcerer and his ally the Trauma Sorcerer began searching for the two in order to claim the bounty.

Upon locating Chihiro and Char, who had been driving a car around, the Puppet Sorcerer immobilized their car and created a spiral of dirt puppets. One of the individuals noted they'd found Char.[3]

The spiral and individuals in the vehicles next to Chihiro and Char dissolved into dirt, encasing Shiba's car. Chihiro immediately escaped with Char on his shoulders and a man appearing the same as the suspicious individuals confronted him; though this one appeared to be the source of the dirt puppets. The puppet sorcerer revealed Sojo had placed a bounty on Char and Chihiro's enchanted blade, before sending more dirt clones after the two. Hinao discovered the bounty and tried to contact Chihiro, but he was unable to respond.

Chihiro fought off his pursuers and deduced they were made of earth as he entered an alleyway. From the other end, the puppet sorcerer appeared with a line of clones, mentioning his previous encounters with the enchanted blades' power in the Seitei War but noticing a difference in the level of power displayed by Chihiro. He chalked it up to Chihiro's lack of skill and sent the clones to rush in. As Chihiro cut through them, the Trauma Sorcerer reached in, his hand aimed towards Chihiro's face.

Chihiro suddenly recalled a meal with his deceased father that rapidly cut to his memory of his father's death. As he shook himself out of the memory and noted Char has also been affected, the sorcerer responsible gloated that his sorcery is able to track people's brain waves and trigger their traumatic experiences. The Puppet Sorcerer, surrounding the area with a legion of clones, wondered if they should eat Char due to her being the last surviving member of the Kyonagi clan. The Trauma Sorcerer shut him down immediately, saying the money Sojo offers is their priority and adding the rumour of eating a Kyonagi's flesh leading to immortality is false. Instead, the Kyonagi simply had incredibly powerful healing abilities, which the Trauma Sorcerer tested by breaking her limbs. The two were unsure about Sojo's motives in utilising this power.

The Trauma Sorcerer turned to pick up Enten but Chihiro drew his wakizashi and sliced off the Trauma Sorcerer's sword-holding right arm. The Trauma Sorcerer was surprised Chihiro could still move and Chihiro stated the memory of that day was what fuelled him. He switched out his wakizashi for Enten and activated Nishiki, his resulting boost in strength and speed allowing him to swiftly behead the Trauma Sorcerer, subsequently killing the puppet sorcerer and his clones.[4]

Abilities[]

Overall Abilities: The Puppet Sorcerer is a skilled sorcerer who had been active since the Seitei War. He believed himself capable of fighting a wielder of an Enchanted Blade, displaying confidence in his abilities. While on his own he was not much of a threat, his physical abilities limited to being able to catch up to an already-winded Chihiro, his ability to surround enemies with clones allowed him to easily gain an advantage in the form of numerical superiority.

As a sorcerer, the Puppet Sorcerer has accomplished the first stage of spirit energy usage, being able to use his spirit energy to strengthen his body to superhuman levels, though he typically relied primarily on his sorcery.

Sorcery[]

Chapter 5-3

The Puppet Sorcerer forms a spiral of clones from the earth.

Dirt-Based Cloning: The Puppet Sorcerer has the ability to create near-identical clones of himself, which are observed by Chihiro to be made from a dirt or mud-like substance. The Puppet Sorcerer can freely manipulate these clones like puppets, and the clones are essentially extensions of himself. The Puppet Sorcerer primarily uses these clones to surround his opponents and overwhelm them with attacks from all directions, wearing out their stamina through sheer number. If needed, he can also return the clones to their original dirt/mud-like form in order to smother his enemies, and reform them back into clones whenever required.[5]
