The Abandoned Kaburato Castle (鏑 (かぶら) 斗 (と) の廃 (はい) 城 (じょう) , Kaburato no Haijō) was an abandoned castle located in the southwest of Chiba that served as Genichi Sojo's primary base of operations for the purposes of his experiments with Datenseki. Following Sojo's battle with Chihiro Rokuhira on the castle grounds on the 14th of October, the castle was destroyed by a massive explosion as a result of Sojo's attempt to use Datenseki.

It is a major setting in the latter half of the Vs. Sojo Arc.

Description

The castle's exterior resembled a standard Japanese castle, with multiple storied floors. There were exterior stairs leading to the upper floors as well as a door on the west with stairs leading down. At the bottom of the latter staircase lay an expansive floor with numerous rooms separated by shoji doors. On the other side of the floor, stairs led downstairs to the laboratory, where Sojo kept Char and her mother imprisoned and conducted his experiments using Datenseki.

History

Kaburato Castle was abandoned many years ago, but mostly intact in the present day. Between the 7th and the 12th of October, Genichi Sojo and the sorcerers and henchmen affiliated with him moved into the castle to resume Datenseki experiments utilising the flesh of Char Kyonagi.

On the 14th of October, Sojo left the castle to head to a bathhouse. Chihiro Rokuhira and Togo Shiba then attacked the castle. Shiba advanced to the exterior, finding a shed and dispatching the sorcerer guards outside. Within the shed was an underground room containing weapon schematics and research papers. Chihiro began scoping out the interior, but was discovered by guards and forced to retreat. Accessing the true realm, Chihiro used Kuro: Shred and a more support-oriented Nishiki to dispatch the entirety of the castle's guard force and rescue Char.

Sojo then returned to the castle after defeating the Kamunabi squad sent after him, and Shiba teleported away with Char to allow Chihiro to handle Sojo one-on-one. After a Twelve-Second Duel, Chihiro cut Sojo down, bisected Cloud Gouger and emerged victorious. A defeated Sojo crawled within the castle laboratory in an attempt to use Datenseki, but instead triggered a colossal explosion that destroyed the castle. Shiba teleported away with Char, Chihiro and the remnants of Cloud Gouger.
