“Norisaku Madoka: I Will Change” ( (まどか) (のり) (さく) ~ (おれ) () わるんだ~ Madoka Norisaku ~Ore wa Kawarunda~) is the eighth chapter of the Kagurabachi manga series, written and illustrated by Takeru Hokazono.

Summary[]

Chihiro was deep in thought, pondering his recent conversation with Azami about avoiding any encounters with Genichi Sojo. However, his contemplation was interrupted by Char, who was peacefully dreaming about food. They were in the closed back room of Cafe Haru Haru, where Hinao was busy cleaning.

Chihiro had recently crossed paths with Norisaku Madoka, known as the "Daruma user" for using explosive Daruma dolls against his enemies. During Shiba's interrogation, Shiba advised him to start a new life. This advice triggered a flashback of his sister berating him for bringing shame to their family, who had earned the name "the bomb monster family" due to his actions. Norisaku seemed genuinely affected by these memories, and Shiba believed it might not be too late for him to change his path. He decided to quit being a sorcerer and called his sister, planning to apologize to their mother in the morning.

As he got into his car, thankful for his sister's support, he discovered her lifeless body in the front seat, with Genichi Sojo sitting in the back. Sojo claimed that all the deaths, including their mother's, were the consequences of Norisaku's failure to complete his task. Overwhelmed by the situation, Norisaku prepared to die using his Daruma, while Sojo left the car, remarking that if Norisaku had chosen life, he should have committed to it. The car exploded as a result of the Daruma, and it appeared that Norisaku intended to take Sojo with him.

Genichi Sojo met with the younger brother of an individual whom Chihiro had recently encountered and subsequently defeated. This person possessed the ability to use psychological induction to inflict psychological trauma on his victims as well as track people by monitoring their brainwaves. The younger brother expressed his desire for Sojo to eliminate Chihiro, providing information to him. Sojo then attacked the brother, who triggered a painful memory from Sojo's past as he was forcefully dragged along, but Sojo ignored his trauma, commented on the interesting sorcery and beheaded the brother.

As Sojo arrived at Cafe Haru Haru, he was warmly greeted by Hinao. However, just as he was about to launch an attack, he was halted in his tracks by Chihiro. Chihiro observed that Sojo was wielding a sword known as Cloud Gouger. While the two engaged in a battle, Char awoke due to the commotion and noticed Sojo's presence. This prompted Hinao to enter the room and take cover with Char.

Chihiro vs Sojo

Chihiro and Sojo prepare to battle.

Sojo activated Cloud Gouger and used Mei, which blasted Chihiro through a wall, though Chihiro came out somehow unscathed, as if he had absorbed the attack. Curious about the sword Sojo was wielding, Chihiro questioned whether it had been stained by the blood of evil doers. Sojo's disinterest in the conversation past led Chihiro to believe that Sojo had no business wielding Cloud Gouger. The confrontation escalated, with both Chihiro and Sojo preparing for a battle.
