Azami (
Due to his role and actions, he is a supporting protagonist for much of the series, and a major ally during the Vs. Sojo Arc.
Appearance[]
Azami is a tall man, standing at a height equivalent to Shiba. He has dark colored hair that is parted from the left side, draping over his right eye. In his first appearance, he sported a civilian polo shirt attire with pockets on each side, layered with a slightly loose long-sleeved garment adorned with stripe designs underneath.
During official Kamunabi meetings and operations, such as when he confronted Genichi Sojo alongside the Anti-Cloud Gouger Special Forces and Shiba, Azami was attired in his Kamunabi uniform: appearing to be a blend of a haori and a yukata, embellished with beads around his waist.
Personality[]
Azami is very disciplined, and prioritizes duty and responsibility. He excels in combat through sheer skill and dexterity rather than sorcery, maintaining composure even when injured. As a member of Kamunabi, he's committed to eliminating threats to the nation and respects individuals like Chihiro who show growth. Azami focuses on averting dangers, particularly regarding enchanted blades, contemplating their confiscation cautiously.
Azami's visit to Cafe Haru Haru aimed to warn about an upcoming black market auction selling the dangerous enchanted blade, Shinuchi, by Genichi Sojo. Azami acknowledges Sojo's cunning and advises against direct confrontation due to experience gaps. He urges Chihiro to trust his team for handling the auction, concerned about Chihiro's readiness.
Azami's awareness of Hishaku's activities and urgency in preparing for upcoming challenges highlight his proactive and vigilant nature, emphasizing readiness and strategic planning to safeguard the nation.
Relationships[]
Allies[]
Chihiro Rokuhira[]
Azami is protective of Chihiro, defending him in an attack and warmly greeting him despite not having seen him for some time. Likewise, Chihiro was immediately comfortable with letting Azami handle the threats, indicating a strong level of trust on Chihiro's end.
He acknowledges Chihiro's growth but worries about Chihiro's readiness against threats like Sojo. Azami informs Chihiro about the Kamunabi's concerns regarding Sojo, emphasizing the danger and suggesting the Kamunabi handle the auction. After Chihiro indicated he would be showing up at the auction, Azami then leaked information regarding the Kamunabi's auction plans to Chihiro and Shiba, in order to help them plan around the Kamunabi. During the meeting between the leaders of the Kamunabi after Sojo's death, Azami deliberately hid as much information as he could about Chihiro, in order to keep the Kamunabi away from him.
Kunishige Rokuhira[]
Azami, Shiba and Kunishige were close friends in the past. Following the end of the Seitei War, Azami assisted Kunishige in finding a place to hide and refrained from informing the Kamunabi. Following his death, Azami assists Kunishige's son, Chihiro, in any way he can.
Togo Shiba[]
Azami is an old friend of Shiba's. He respects his departure from the Kamunabi and values his defense of Chihiro's progress. He informs Shiba about Kamunabi's interest in discussing Sojo's intentions. Azami frequently collaborates with Shiba, sharing with him critical details about the Kamunabi's plans regarding various topics such as Sojo, the Hishaku and the Rakuzaichi.
Plot[]
Vs. Sojo Arc[]
Azami holds one of the highest-ranking positions in the Kamunabi, a government organization formed during the war to eliminate threats to the nation as a whole, differing itself from civilian sorcerers that generally focus on countering criminal entities like Yakuzas and corporations.
Having extensive experience with the Kamunabi, Azami possesses insights into its operations, including leadership and knowledge about the concealed enchanted blades. He acknowledges the danger these blades pose to the nation and contemplates their confiscation to prevent misuse.
Despite Chihiro's three years of growth, Azami respects his progress but believes Chihiro is still inexperienced, particularly when facing the cunning and powerful Genichi Sojo. Azami suggests entrusting the task of dealing with the impending auction to the Kamunabi due to Chihiro's perceived unreadiness.
Azami expresses concern about Hishaku's actions post Rokuhira's murder, suspecting their intent to utilize the enchanted blades for a significant agenda affecting the nation. He stresses the urgency of being fully prepared for the challenges posed by Hishaku and their affiliates in the underworld like Sojo in the upcoming event.

Overall Abilities: As a high-ranking member of the Kamunabi, Azami is a powerful sorcerer. Genichi Sojo expressed a great desire to fight him alongside Togo Shiba, stating that both men were "a problem" and fighting them would be "too much".[1]
